Ingredients (for four)

Bramley (or other cooking) Apples – four

Soft Brown Sugar – four tsp

Butter – 40g

Mixed dried fruit (such as Waitrose Wholesome No.30 Vine Mix) – four handfuls

A sprinkling of nutmeg, cinammon or mixed spice to taste

Method

Using a sharp knife, score a line around the equator of the apple to a point just below the skin (this will prevent any explosions in the oven).  Core the apples.  Stuff with the remaining ingredients and bake at around 160C for approximately 45 minutes.  Keep an eye on them – the cooking time will depend on their size.

Serve on their own or with ice cream, cream or custard.
