Ingredients
Cooking Apples, peeled and sliced - 800g
Brown Sugar – 80g (approximately, depending on how sweet the fruit is) plus extra for sprinkling
Water – 80ml
One quantity of rough puff pastry
a little milk to glaze
Method
Cook 600g of the apples with the sugar and water over a low heat until the apples have caramelised to a golden brown colour and broken down to a puree. Add the remaining 200g to add texture to the puree.
Place in a pie dish and cover with the pastry. Glaze with the milk and sprinkle with the additional sugar.
Bake in the oven at Gas Mark 6 for approximately 30 minutes until the pie crust is crisp and golden.
